Divine intervention...

at the beginning of the video below Lecrea says that, "you know, in an intervention they tell you, that you're hurting somebody who loves you. divine intervention is no different."

those two sentences made me think for a bit.  the rest of the song is good and all but those two lines brought me to a realization.  when God comes to you He comes to you in love asking that you stop hurting yourself but also that you stop hurting Him.  maybe it's because I have been thinking of Amy Winehouse and her death lately.  she needed an intervention.  not an intervention from drugs but one of love.  it saddens me that in interviews after her death her own mother said that her death was only a matter of time.  it's like no one had any hope for her.  that must have felt like the loneliest of places, the deepest hopelessness one can feel outside of being forsaken from God.  your own mother?  just expecting you to die because there's nothing else that can be done.  that hurt me, and I didnt even know Amy Winehouse personally.

anyway, back to my original thought. sorry, i'm ADD. so intervention.  i never looked at it that way. where God is trying to stop you from hurting yourself with sin.  but to the extent that sin destroys you, God is being hurt.  he longs to have you near him and loves you to depths that you can't imagine but you choose to ignore him and go along with something that is leading you to death and destryoing you without you even knowing it.  thus, sin doesn't only get you hurt yoursel, it hurts God the most.  when God comes to you and asks that you stop being subject to sin he does it to show his love for us but he also does it becuase it pains to see his children going stray and away from Him, the only ones that can possibly give them life back.
