the highlight of the tour was copley square and trinity church. as i explained the hancock tower weather-color-coding thing there was a group of septua/octo/nonagenarias in a tour of their own. all of the sudden i see two old ladies approach me. so cute! so i finish my sentence and acknoledge them staning very, very close to me. they start asking me questions, "where does the group come from?" "china?" "no, japan," i reply. "how long was the trip?" "do i live there or here?" "how are things after the earthquake?" "do they like it here?" "do i teach them english?" they start telling me they're on a tour too. they're from russia. the tour guide--"ha! she was like 80-something--looks to me with a gigantic smile, "yes, i'm a tour guide too." we were comrades. someone starts calling them to their little 15-passenger vans (2) and they start walking there. the two old ladies are still asking me questions but they had to rush to it a bit since they were going to leave them. i kinda held one of the grannies' elbow to guide her to the van and kept smiling and walking away. as i walked away from them the lead granny looks at me with her signature grin and says, "you are beautiful!" she was awesome. i loved the chat and the group of oldies just walking about boston all by themselves. i like old folk a lot so that was nice. it was such a random moment. after, we went through the pru and shopped. i had a cardboard sign with my cell number to show the students and when i went to the restroom it fell out of my pocket. when i realized it, i went back to the restroom and found it right outside the door. heck, imagine someone finding it and start prank calling me or something. that would have been a story. on our way to take the train again i took them to the wrong train station--prudential instead of copley. it was pretty funny. me followed by 35 japanese girls walking aimlessly around the mall. finally i found it after asking a security guard and a skincare counter lady.
it was a good day. i laugh a lot when i'm with the students. i always fall in love with some of them. they're usually sweet and giggly. it was fun to be walking about the city with such beautiful weather but by the end of the day i was dead. i came home watched a little bit of a korean soap and fell asleep. i totally missed the time to meet my friends in Central square and by the time i started to get going i realized that i'd be getting there after 9pm to have to leave by 11. let's see what tomorrow holds. i'm waiting for God's miracle in terms of the house. oh, that's another little saga i need to write about later. never a dull moment!
