while at a meeting with my senior pastor a while back, he said something that ignited a thought process in me.  he was speaking about perfection and how the universe works at around 80% so he considers perfection within the context of the world as that percentage across the board.  he said that he considers a robot 100% perfect but that it cannot do what a human body can do--physically, emotionally, spiritual--even though the human body can be considered to be under that 80% sure.  thinking of this in spiritual terms then it makes sense.  God is the only one who is perfect.  he is also the only one that can bring about perfection in anything.  however,  he cannot birth his perfection out of something that is already "perfect." as i think of this, it is paramount for us as human beings and Christians to realize that our ability to be perfect can only come from our imperfection.  because we are imperfect, and because out of our imperfection God can work with us, we have the chance to be molded by him and reach a level that we would never have done through our own means.  perfection can only come from our imperfect state because that is when God can bring it about.  if we try to do it on our own, then there's no room for him to do it.  that's why in the journey we face we have to recognize our finite ability and live a life surrendered to the one that can make it count.

isn't that ironic?  that's so God, though.  what we in human terms think to be crazy and make no sense is the perfect recipe for a God that can make things out of nothing, and order out of chaos.  to me that's just so cool.
